#722 Notes on Selfless Creativity - 2006/03/26 11:01 PM
This week we catch up with lead creative director RR Anderson for a rare insight to the amazing world of advertising/marketing careers!
Q: Is it hard coming up with GOOD ideas?
A: Maybe this is the nausea of my stomach flu talking, but keeping on-the-ball in a competitive industry (such as professional sports equipment manufacturing) is not completely unlike the sensation a department store manikin would feel if it were to suddenly find itself treading water in the middle of a vast ocean... it's hollow corporal husk slowly filling with frigid ice water as it slips below the surface and unavoidably forgotten. [long pause] It's easy to come up with ideas. People will either embrace them, or they won't.
Q: Did you just admit it is easy, as Holden Caulfield would say to be a phony?
A: Admission? No, I suggested a means to a long term, individually held dream.
Q: What would that dream be exactly?
A: Rapture into heaven, which in my case would be a family-owned, free-range turtle farm sanctuary.
Q: Aren't you afraid the turtles would get eaten by an ocelot?
A: Nope, turtles and ocelots are friends.
